Monaco Customs Information – HHGlogistics
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Those taking up permanent residence in Monaco require the following:
- Certificate of change of residence (Attestation de Non-Cession)- must state you have lived abroad for a minimum of a year, have owned items for longer than 3 months, and that goods will not be sold for at least 12 months from importation.
- Detailed inventory indicating value, signed and dated (2 copies)
- Those establishing secondary residence require the following:
- 3 copies of authorization certificate from the Regional Customs Directorate
- 3 copies of detailed and valued inventory
- Proof of ownership or of renting a residence
- Proof of residence abroad
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- Household goods and personal effects are duty-free for those taking up permanent residence provided the following are true:
- You have lived abroad for a minimum of 1 year
- Items have been used and owned for at least 3 months prior to shipment
- Household goods and personal effects are duty-free for those establishing secondary residence provided the following are true:
- You have used imported goods for a minimum of 3 months in an EC country (6 months in a non-EC country)
- If you own or rent the secondary residence for at least 12 months, if primary residence is in another EC country (24 months if in a non-EC country)
- You do not sell or trade imported items for 1 year after importation from a EC country (2 years from a non-EC country)
- If expecting a second shipment, this must be stated at time of first importation
RESTRICTED ITEMS/DUTIABLE
- Tobacco products
- Alcohol
- Foodstuffs
- Semi-finished products and raw materials
- Medicine – must have authorization from the Ministry of Health to import
- Ammunition and firearms – requires import permit from the Directorate General of Customs
- May require a license for antiques
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Live plants
- Drugs and narcotics
MOTOR VEHICLES
- Can import vehicles duty free if:
- You are moving primary residence to Monaco
- Have been abroad for over 1 year
- Have owned vehicle for at least 6 months
- MUST LIST VEHICLE ON INVENTORY- provide year, make, model chassis, engine and registration numbers
- Acceptable to ship vehicle with household goods, but must be near doors
- The following documents are required:
- Registration
- Attestation from French Consulate at origin
- Purchase invoice
PETS
- Cats, dogs and bird require a health certificate from veterinarian
