Panama Customs Information – HHGlogistics
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS & CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- Returning Paraguay Citizens:if lived abroad for more than 2 years, may import used personal effects, HHGS and tools of trade duty and port tax free; cannot import vehicles duty free. The following documentations is to be presented in person, 3 weeks before arrival of shipment, to the Repatriation Office in Asuncion in order to obtain required Repatriation Certificate:
- Paraguayan ID
- ID from country of origin
- Inventory listed in Spanish
- Bill of Landing approved by the Paraguayan Consulate at origin (2 sets)
- Certificate/letter from the Paraguayan Consulate in country of origin
- Temporary Residents: subject to port taxes and duties for household goods, personal effects and vehicles. Requires a temporary residence permit in order to import items.
- Permanent Residents: within first 6 months of obtaining residence permit, may import household goods and personal effects duty and port tax free. the following documents must be presented in person 3 weeks before shipments arrival, to the Immigration Office in Asuncion in order to obtain required customs certificate:
- Inventory approved by the Paraguayan Consulate in country of origin
- Bill of Landing approved by the Paraguayan Consulate in country of origin
- Original residence permit
- Additional documents and steps are required after immigrants’ arrival in Paraguay in order to obtain residency. Contact the Paraguayan Consulate for more information regarding this matter.
- Foreign Diplomats may import household goods and personal effects duty-free, but are required to pay port taxes.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Machinery and molds designed to manufacture currency
- Stilettos, hatchets and daggers
- Fans or canes
- Swords and firearms
- Obscene or immoral films or books, printed matters, folders, illustrations, paintings or objects
- Military equipment, arms or any war machinery
- Items used for gambling
- Plants
- Food items are restricted and require a health inspection that will prolong clearance process
MOTOR VEHICLES
- The following documents are required for import of a vehicle:
- Bill of Landing
- Car condition report/Pre-shipment inspection certificate
- Veritas Verification Certificate or SGS
- Only duty-free import for diplomats
PETS
- Requires a health and vaccination certificate
IMPORTANT
**All required documents need to be in hands of destination agent at least 2 weeks prior to the arrival of your shipment. If all necessary documents are not sent and filed on time, additional expenses could be incurred **
