Samoa Customs Information – HHGlogistics
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Non-citizen U.S. nationals that are residents in American Samoa require a visitor permit prior to entering Samoa
- Non-citizen U.S. nationals that are residents in Samoa are no longer permitted to travel to Samoa on certificates of identity; except on a case-by-case basis
- Can apply for a visitor permit at the new Samoa Consulate General office in Pago Pago, American Samoa
- All Americans require a valid passport and a return ticket (both citizens and non-citizen nationals)
- Visitor permits are required for non-citizen U.S. nationals of American Samoa residing in American Samoa only, if seeking to stay in Samoa for up to 60 days

- A written declaration is required for visitors entering Samoa
- 200 cigarettes and 1 liter of spirits may be brought in duty free (per person)
- Firearms, ammunition, drugs, explosives and indecent publications of any kind are prohibited
- Strict regulations may be enforced by customs authorities concerning temporary importation or exportation of items such as:
- Religious materials
- Firearms
- Antiquities
- Medications
- Business equipment
- And other items
- It is advised to contact the Embassy regarding specific information for customs requirements
- Any person on medication visiting Samoa with a certain quantity of medication drugs is required to hand carry with him/her. Also requires a letter from a doctor authorizing the need for such medication/prescription drugs; as well as a list identifying the type and amount of drugs taken into Samoa.
- Animals require a permit from the Department of Agriculture Apia, Samoa and a veterinarian certificate of health prior to import
