Turkey Customs Information – HHGlogistics
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Passport with valid entry stamp
- Residence permit
- Residence visa
- Work permit
- Application letter
- Inventory; include brand name and serial numbers of all electrical appliances
- Letter of guarantee issued by Turkish employer
- Authorization letter allowing destination agent to clear shipment
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- IF TURKISH CITIZEN, REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- May import used household goods and personal effects for personal use
- Household goods required to arrive within 2 months before or 6 months after customer’s passport has been stamped for entry
- Those who have a Turkish passport must have lived abroad for a continuous period of at least 2 years in order to import goods bought outside of Turkey duty-free
RESTRICTED ITEMS/DUTIABLE
- Tobacco products
- Alcoholic beverages
- Food
- Perfume
- Used electronics, appliances and so on should not be packed in original boxes; or will be considered new
- Number of electrical goods should coincide with number of family members in household
- Duplicate electrical items are dutiable
- Telecommunication equipment and fax machines are restricted
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Ammunition and weapons
- Drugs and narcotics
- Explosives
MOTOR VEHICLES
- YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE OF ANY VEHICLE
- Vehicle required to arrive within 3 months before or after your passport has been stamped for entry
- Turkish citizens required to obtain a labor permit for importation of vehicle
- restrictions on importing vehicles over 3 years old
- If letter of guarantee is provided, a non-Turkish national may import vehicle duty and tax free
- If importing vehicle in same container as household goods, household shipment will not be released until vehicle has cleared
- Cannot import minibuses
- Required documents include the following:
- “Carnet de Passage”
- Passport
- Residence permit
- Purchase invoice
- Letter of guarantee from customer
- Black book (chassis and motor number)
PETS
- Requires a health certificate
