CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- If household goods and personal effects owned for at least 1 year, may import duty-free
- Belize nationals may import household goods and personal effects duty-free if have lived abroad for at least 1 year
- Shipment required to arrive within 6 months of your arrival
RESTRICTED ITEMS/DUTIABLE
- New items are dutiable, require a purchase invoice
- May import some new items duty-free, these include: computers, refrigerators, stoves and most sports items.
MOTOR VEHICLES
- Vehicle valuation by customs depends on year of manufacture and condition
- Requires ownership papers
- Duties apply
- Import permit required for boats; very difficult to obtain for boats made of wood.
